Maybe pigs can't fly, but they can swim. Surviving, not looting. The man on the right is carrying stackable food cans. Thais use these everyday to carry food. Sometimes each can has a meal for one person, other times each can has a different kind of food in it.
Still working.
A few pigs saved.
A few more in transit
I think they prefer riding in the car with their heads out the windows.
Worried dog.
Still cooking and selling his fare regardless of conditions.
No government bailout here.
A devastating loss of all his chickens.
Factories closed and thousands out of work with a massive clean-up ahead.
Those spots are hundreds of ruined cars.
Now there is a REAL fish story. No Photoshop here.
Grocery store shelves sold out, but not looted.
King of the mountain?
More cars. I bet the car industry will see a spike in sales after this is
over.
If the rednecks in the USA see this photo I'll bet a whole new boating
industry will start up.
This is one time an elephant is a better asset than a car. Motorbike surfing. Here again, I can see rednecks in the USA starting a whole new sport if this photo gets into their hands.
This dog finding refuge on a Spirit offering table.
Oh boy, wouldn't this make for great redneck motorboat races?
This is one time when high priced river view property loses its appeal.
No elephant rides today. Riders would be out of the water, but how do you get there in the first place?
Luckily, these poor pigs are about to be rescued.
This one too.
Thai water buffalo. I wonder if they enjoy this much water?
One of the flooding problems has been crocodiles. Normally crocodiles aren't a problem because they have been confined to crocodile farms. But with the massive flooding, many have escaped. This has hindered rescue operations and at some point there will have to be a crocodile
round-up.
Two very lucky piglets.
Priceless photo. "Me and My Monkey!"
Hence the term, "I got a monkey on my back."
This just goes to show that redneck ingenuity is universal and crosses
cultural barriers.
Another priceless photo. A rescue similar to the man with the piglets. Makes a person wonder....and earlier photo of a dog rescuing a monkey, now a monkey rescuing a dog. Incredible.
Living, not looting.
These large lizards are called Goanna. Do you suppose they are happy to have found each other survived?
Moving the water buffalo to higher ground.
Curious place to enjoy a snack, but kids will be kids.
In the background, a good example why older Thai homes were built on stilts.
Precious rescue of the the family dog.
I'm not sure about the value of his cargo, but apparently it is important to to this man. Things many would discard as junk in Western countries may be very useful items to a Thai's innovative everyday survival. 2011 will surely be a year Thailand will want to put behind them, this flooding being one of the worst natural disasters in their history, and it is not over yet.
